The idea of Adynaton Designs came about in the spring of 2023 while Chad and Jarrett worked together at a cabinetry shop in Austin, TX. One day the topic of building furniture came up and the first seed was planted. The concept of designing and crafting furniture together continued for weeks and became so frequent that they decided to finally take action. Fast forward a little over a year to the Fall of 2024 and Adynaton Designs became official with the launch of its website.

The premise of Adynaton Designs has expanded from single pieces of furniture to the design of custom cabinetry and entire rooms. If a client is looking to re-model a space within their home, they will work directly with Adynaton Designs throughout the entire process.

Why “Adynaton” & What Does It Mean?

Adynaton is a term with origins stemming from ancient Greece. Today it is typically used as a figure of speech in order to describe an impossibility in an exaggerative manner. A common usage of an Adynaton that many have heard is, “That will happen when pigs fly.” So why use this as the namesake of our business? We believe this term epitomizes exactly what we want to accomplish here at Adynaton Designs. Every day our goal is to take an idea for a piece of furniture, cabinetry, or room that at first appears impossible, and then bring it to life for our clients. The name is a daily reminder for us to push the boundaries when designing and building in order to provide truly one-of-a-kind results that both our clients and we can be proud of.

About Us

Hello, my name is Jarrett. I grew up near Pensacola, FL, until I moved to Austin in order to attend The University of Texas (Hook em’). After college I realized I didn’t want to conduct research and work in a lab for the rest of my days. Inspired by my great-grandfather, who was a cabinet maker his whole life, I started working at a custom cabinetry shop here in Austin, Tx. I instantly fell in love with the process of building custom pieces and seeing them come to life in homes throughout the Austin area. My thoughts quickly expanded to building custom furniture and eventually grew to the idea of designing entire spaces, incorporating my own custom cabinetry, furniture, and decor to create a unique and cohesive aesthetic.

Collaborating with clients to design their dream piece of furniture or to design a room that truly reflects their personality and lifestyle is my greatest passion. Helping to bring someone’s vision from concept all the way to completion is the most gratifying and exciting thing I’ve done in my life. Creating a space to match one’s imagination can seem impossible, but I strive every day to make it an exciting and achievable goal because I believe everyone deserves to live in a space that is unique to them.

My name is Chad Conwell.  I grew up on a small farm just outside Austin, TX. Growing up on a farm was a lot of work and there was always something that needed to be fixed or built, which for me was my favorite part! I also discovered my love for trees growing up in the Texas Hill Country and have always been captivated by the beauty in and outside of a tree. Turns out, if you combine a love for working with your hands and a passion for trees, you come up with a woodworker!  (funny how that works). To me, woodworking is not just an avenue to earn an income, it's more importantly a calling. It's the perfect outlet to express creativity by utilizing nature’s beauty. Woodworking is also a great teacher. It requires patience and repetition to become a good practitioner and there is always more to learn. So, if you commission us to make a piece, just know we will be just as excited as you to build it; if not more. I have found there is nothing more satisfying than a finished project and the next one could be yours!
